Pet Airways
Ever wish you could bring your pet on vacation? Well now you can! Last year Pet Airways launched the first flight of their new airline, which exclusively flies animals, and in the main cabin. Unfortunately, the flights are limited to pets and staff, so owners are not able to fly along-side their companions. This option is better for owners, however, who previously had to store their puppies and kittens in cargo space and subject their pets to isolation and extremely cold temperatures.
Not only does Pet Airways provide seating for pets in the main cabin, but the airline also provides in-flight entertainment. An individual trained staff-member tends to each animal, making sure to cater to the animal’s needs, whether it is a potty break or a walk around the cabin. When you reach the final destination, both of you, your pet, and the entire family will be prepared for pampering.
Pet-Friendly Hotels
There are several hotels that allow your favorite pup, ranging from chic NY hotels to doggy-driven bed and breakfasts. At the Audrey’s Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast, dogs are encouraged to remain off-leash, roam around the inn, and make friends with other guests pets. The Doubletree Hotel Tarrytown, NY provides lush doggie beds, bowls, and even a doggie version of their hospitable welcome cookie for their canine guests.
Staycation
If you can’t bring Toto, consider a staycation. Stay at home but spend time with your pup and the family and then head out to discover local parks, restaurants, shops, and other attractions.
Visit the newest doggie park or do research to find other pet-friendly locations. There are many bars and restaurants that have special “Yappy Hours,” and will welcome your K-9, probably with a treat for him and a drink for you.
If you can’t find pet-friendly places, do activities near the home. Take him and the rest of the family out for walks, or splurge on a Doggy Boat Ladder to make a splash with your pup on those hot summer days. The possibilities are endless. You often don’t need to go away to have a good time – just turn off your cell phone!
