Grant your dog exclusive access to your home, locking out unwanted visitors. The award-winning SmartDoor recognizes the SmartKey™ tag on your dog’s collar and unlocks the dog door. Additional keys are available for other pets.

The electronic SmartDoor recognizes the collar "SmartKey" on your dog and unlocks to allow your dog access. The sensing range is adjustable up to 3 feet. As your dog enters the adjustable range of the SmartDoor, the SmartDoor detects the SmartKey and unlocks automatically. After your dog passes through, the door will relock again automatically. Animals without the SmartKey are not able to enter. You may have a total of 5 SmartKeys in use at one time.

How does the PetSafe SmartDoor Dog Door work? The PetSafe Electronic SmartDoor allows you to control the access of your pets. This electronic dog door comes with a SmartKey that you attach to your dog’s collar, and will only open when the key is within range of the door when set is automatic mode. As your pet enters the adjustable range of the Electronic SmartDoor, the Electronic SmartDoor detects the SmartKey and unlocks automatically. After your pet passes through the Electronic SmartDoor, the door will lock automatically.

How far away from the door does my dog have to be to open the SmartDoor? The SmartDoor has an adjustable range of up to 3 feet.

Will the SmartDoor work for my cat? Yes, the SmartDoor will open for any pet with the correct SmartKey attached.

Can more than one pet use the PetSafe Electronic SmartDoor? Yes, up to 5 pets can be programmed onto the electronic dog door at once. The SmartDoor comes with one Smartkey, additional keys can be purchased on GoodDeals.com separately.

Can my other animals get in the door? No, that’s the beauty of an automatic dog door. Now you don’t have to worry about raccoons or possums sneaking in the back of your house! If they don’t have the SmartKey programmed for your door, they can’t get in.

Will other neighborhood pets get in the SmartDoor if they have SmartKeys? No, the SmartDoor’s SmartKey is programmed specifically to your door. While someone else in the neighborhood may have the same PetSafe Dog Door, none will have the code you programmed to the door/key. Magnetic dog doors don’t offer this feature.

Can I install the PetSafe SmartDoor Electronic Dog Door in a wall instead of my door? The SmartDoor can fit doors between 1 1/2 to 2 inches thick. A "wall kit" extender is available directly from the manufacturer. Contact us for more information.
